Our focus on the New Year brings a freshness that thrives on the hope for better things in our lives. It is as if to say, "Gone is the past, now before us is the new." This has precedent in the Scripture.
When Israel was delivered from centuries of Egyptian bondage, they set the time of their deliverance as the first month in their new year (Abid) (Exodus 13:4). Thus they would keep track of the time and would come again to the New Year remembering their deliverance and renewing their desire to reach the Promise Land.
May we look forward to this new year with hope and zeal and continue our journey, doing all we can to help others continue or begin their way to God and His Heaven.
